Single speciality or multi-speciality: "It is
a high-end multi super specialty hospital offering treatment for digestive and
kidney diseases with focus on multi organ transplants like liver, heart, kidney,
pancreas and lungs. There is not such dedicated hospital in the city as yet,
based on the demand-supply gap analysis," says Dr RV Karanjekar, CEO &
Group Director, Global Hospitals.
Any subsidy taken from the Government: The land has
been given on lease by Maharashtra Government on a 99-year lease.
Total area of the land: Approximately 11,300 square
metres.
Total square feet area of the hospital: Approximately
34,000 square metres.
About architecture: Local architect from Hyderabad,
which will specially look in to green building aspects, great operation theatres
and energy efficient building of more than 16 floors.
Reason for choosing Mumbai: "It is perfectly
placed and well connected for state, national and international patients. There
is an acute gap in the western region for high quality, end-to-end, affordable
care in organ transplants, digestive and kidney diseases," says Dr Karanjekar.
Vision and mission: Intends to be high end super-specialty
centre of excellence in digestive, liver, kidney, urological diseases, organ
transplants, cardiology and orthopaedics as well as related oncology offering
comprehensive, end-to-end therapeutic, surgical, diagnostic services, available
under one roof. "It will be a unique project, a first-of-its-kind in Mumbai,
with a stated mission statement to provide high quality, state-of-the-art care,
making it the preferred national/international referral centre and an established
brand name in its chosen sphere. Its location in midtown Mumbai makes it easily
accessible via arterial roads, local and national railway as well as domestic
and international airports," says Dr Karanjekar. "The promoters include
highly qualified medical professionals who have been educated, trained and are
attached to internationally reputed medical institutions/ hospitals in the US/
UK/ France/ Germany and within India. The combined skill sets of the promoters-cum-doctors
cover the gamut of services required to offer complete solutions in the chosen
specialties. As full timers, they will be bringing their own market share in
their specialties to the hospital," says Dr Karanjekar.
USP of the project: Dedicated full-time consultants
with proven track records of excellence and market dominance in their chosen
fields of expertise.
Number of clinicians and non-clinicians to be hired:
Over 150 clinicians, who will be a mix of full timers and part-timers. It would
be manned by 600 to 650 administrative staff.
Centrally air-conditioned: Yes.
Environment-friendly measures: Energy efficient temperature
control and lighting, alternative/re-cycled energy source used for hospital
activities, integrated building management system, rain water harvesting and
sewage water treatment plant.
Use of technology: "The hospital will be one
of the most advanced hospitals in technology specially, when we will be starting
with liver, pancreas, heart and lung transplants, the only of its kind in India.
It will not only have all radiological and pathological modalities but also
genetic study. The technology in GI endoscopy will on par with any of the world's
latest and biggest," says Dr Karanjekar.
Use of IT: "Will run on a central platform HIS
that connects it to the rest of the hospitals and outreach centres within the
chain. This ensures seamless patient care delivery," says Dr Karanjekar.
Ways to market it: Powerful 'brand' consultants who
are dedicated to the hospital and 'inclusive approach' to patient care which
involves, educates and delivers healthcare in a humane way.
Future plans: Increase ease of access for patient
by setting up feeder outreach centres and hospitals in other suburbs on Mumbai
and to be the largest affordable chain in Mumbai, catering all strata of the
society, to remain at the forefront of technology in the city imbibing newer
trends and to become the first large brand beyond tertiary hospital in the next
five years.
