ILS Hospital, Agartala

GPT Healthcare Private Limited, a GPT Group Company, is coming up with its second project in Agaratala

Location: Near Agartala airport.

When did construction start: November 1, 2008.

Time of commissioning: September 2010.

Total number of beds: 166, which is scalable to 236 beds.

Number of beds to be commissioned in first phase: 166.

Corporate or trust: Corporate.

Other hospitals of the group: The group is operating a 63-bed multi-speciality hospital at Salt Lake City in Kolkata. GPT Group is a rapidly growing conglomerate of independently managed companies involved in various sectors of manufacturing, infrastructure projects, medical and health care, power, mining etc and with a group turnover exceeding Rs 3,500 million. GPT Group is having international presence also. The company has taken up another project of 120-bed multi-speciality hospital near Nager Bazar area in the North East Kolkata.

Budget (inclusive of cost of land, construction & equipment): Rs 90 crore.

Type of investment: Private equity.

Multi-speciality or single speciality: Multi-speciality.

Any subsidy taken from the Government and what is the arrangement with the Government against that: Land allotted on lease by Government of Tripura. Ten per cent beds reserved for BPL.

About architecture: Hosmac India Private Limited has provided turnkey consultancy.

Reasons for choosing to invest in Agartala: Says Dr Om Tantia, Managing Director, GPT, "Agartala lacks in modern healthcare facilities and has huge potential to become a healthcare hub in the North East region, including neighbouring districts of Bangladesh."

Vision and mission of the hospital: To provide high standard services with advanced medical treatment, diagnostic technology to stop out flux of patients from Tripura.

USP of the project: Bringing the proven credibility of ILS Hospital from Kolkata to Agartala.

Centrally air conditioned: Yes.

Total area of the land: 14,164,05 square metres.

Ways to market it: By providing best medical care as is being provided at ILS salt lake.

Environment friendly measures: Use of concrete blocks instead of earthen bricks, STP with tertiary treatment and re-use of treated liquid waste. Provision for rain water harvesting.

About technology that is latest in the area: Advanced diagnostic and medical equipment.

Use of IT: Hospital on full HMS and ERP system with medical records.

Future plans of the hospital and of the group in healthcare: In the second phase, the hospital would build cancer surgery unit. The company is having a vision of setting up chain of hospitals in various cities of North-East India.
